Supplements of Koert van der Horst, Illuminated and decorated medieval manuscripts in the University Library, Utrecht (1989)

One of the standard works on the manuscript collection of the University Library of Utrecht is Koert van der Horst, Illuminated and decorated medieval manuscripts in the University Library, Utrecht. An illustrated catalogue, which was published in 1989. The University Library has acquired a number of illuminated and decorated medieval manuscripts since then. Research on manuscript fragments and maculature has also brought examples of illumination and decoration to light. In two traineeships two supplements on Van der Horst's catalogue were produced, which are published as PDF:

Willemijn van Klingeren & Tino Oudesluijs, A supplement to Koert van der Horst, Illuminated and decorated medieval manuscripts in the University Library, Utrecht (1989). Vol. 1: manuscripts acquired 1989-2011; loose manuscript fragments (first section). PDF. Utrecht: Utrecht University Library, Special Collections, 2011.

Anna Duijsings, Myrthe Machielsen, Marleen van der Meulen & Chloé Vondenhoff, A supplement to Koert van der Horst, Illuminated and decorated medieval manuscripts in the University Library, Utrecht (1989). Vol. 2: loose manuscript fragments (second section; bound maculature (first section). PDF. Utrecht: Utrecht University Library, Special Collections, 2011.

A third supplement shall discuss the remaining decorated manuscripts which are bound in book as maculature. Extensive research is still needed before it is finished.
