Where to find?

The Special Collection manuscripts are kept in depositories and can be made available for viewing in the Special Collections Reading Room in Utrecht University Library Uithof. Manuscripts and archives relating to individuals are usually listed and catalogued in various ways.

The early and rare printed works of the Utrecht University Library collection are kept in several climate-controlled depositories. You can request these documents in Worlcat and consult them in the Special Collections Reading Room on the sixth floor of the University Library Uithof.

Utrecht University Library manages an appealing collection of cartographic documents. The majority of the most recent maps, charts and atlases are kept in the Map Room on the sixth floor of Utrecht University Library Uithof.

An increasingly large proportion of the Utrecht special collections, consisting of old editions, manuscripts, maps and charts, is being digitised and is available online, meaning these documents can be consulted at all times anywhere there is an Internet connection.

Utrecht University Library has over a hundred collections, which primarily consist of related archived documents and/or printed works, for example archives and/or book collections donated by professors or the libraries of institutions acquired or purchased by Utrecht University Library.
